Video transcript

00:00:00

In this video.

00:00:01

We'll see how to set up product attributes and categories. Product attributes are details that apply to a particular product or category of products. The attributes can be used for tracking and analysing purposes.

00:00:17

An attribute has to have an attribute type, so let's look at that. First we'll go to product information management, set up categories and attributes, attribute types, and we'll create a new type.

00:00:33

And this type will be for T shirts and it will be to detail whether they have sleeves or not. So we'll call this sleeved.

00:00:47

And this will be a yes or no attribute, so it will be a Boolean. We notice the fixed list is not available for this type, so we'll save this.

00:01:04

And create a new.

00:01:05

One and this one will be.

00:01:07

For the type of sleeve so sleeve type.

00:01:12

This time we'll have a text attribute and we want the list to be fixed, or toggle this and we have values here, or add first of all.

00:01:25

Long or long sleeve.

00:01:29

Then short.

00:01:34

And lastly.

00:01:36

No sleeves.

00:01:38

Come on.

00:01:42

Now we've set up the attribute types. We'll set up the attributes back to the menu and attributes.

00:01:51

And we'll create a new attribute, we'll call it the same name as our.

00:01:57

Two attribute type.

00:02:00

Sleaved will find that attribute type we've just created.

00:02:10

And when we save that, another toggle will appear here.

00:02:15

Which is our default value which we are going to set to yes, and here are more toggles for attribute metadata, self explanatory.

00:02:26

So we'll save this and create a new attribute, and once again the same name will use.

00:02:34

As the type.

00:02:37

We'll find that the attribute type.

00:02:43

And this time when we save the toggle will allow us to set a default text value and we'll use the long as the default.

00:02:57

Now we've created 2 attributes specific to our T shirts, we'll put.

00:03:01

Them in an.

00:03:02

Attribute group back to the main menu. Attribute groups will create a new group.

00:03:11

And we'll call this T sleeves.

00:03:17

And we'll add our tributes. We created a moment ago.

00:03:24

Find those.

00:03:28

Add to the group OK.

00:03:33

Now we will add our new group to a category hierarchy. We use category hierarchies to classify products or transactions for reporting and analysis. For example, when we create a product, we assign it to.

00:03:51

A product category, so we'll go to our category hierarchies.

00:03:59

And we'll select from the tree already. We'll select fashion.

00:04:06

And from here.

00:04:08

We'll look at the category attribute groups and add.

00:04:13

Our new group that we created or.

00:04:16

Find that it was.

00:04:19

T sleeves.

00:04:22

Select that and add.

00:04:26

And we see here the attributes for that group.

00:04:29

And we click OK.
