CTDI Europe chooses Microsoft Fabric – a bold analytics platform deployment as a catalyst for business growth

CTDI has successfully implemented the modern Microsoft Fabric analytics platform across its European operations. This marks one of the first projects in the region to transform business intelligence using this solution – within the context of engineering, repair and logistics services for the telecommunications sector. ANEGIS served as the technology implementation partner for the project.

Standardization and the need for greater predictability

CTDI (Communications Test Design, Inc.) has been providing engineering, repair, and logistics services to the telecommunications and electronics industries for over 50 years on a global scale. The company operates in more than 100 locations worldwide and employs over 20,000 people, including 4,200 in Europe. Its largest European branch is located in Poland.

In late 2022, CTDI reviewed the large number of Business Intelligence (BI) projects it executed across Europe each year. This analysis revealed the urgent need to optimize data reporting and analytics tools. The company decided to implement a new solution to unify its analytics environment and reporting, launch automated forecasting, and improve sales planning with the support of artificial intelligence and machine learning. These improvements were crucial to the company's long-term growth strategy.

Microsoft Fabric – the next generation of analytics

Among the available technologies, CTDI selected Microsoft Fabric – a brand-new platform that had only recently become generally available at the time of the decision.

Microsoft Fabric is an end-to-end analytics platform that integrates services such as Power BI, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, and OneLake into a single environment. It supports the full data lifecycle – from integration and analysis to visualization, forecasting, and automated decision-making. The new solution precisely matched the goals CTDI defined during its needs assessment.

"The solution successfully addressed our key challenges in business intelligence and data analytics by providing a unified analytical platform that integrates diverse data sources across our global operations. This streamlined approach has enhanced decision-making and operational efficiency while ensuring robust security and simplifying data sharing throughout the organization. Automating price optimization with machine learning has significantly reduced manual effort and improved forecast accuracy,” explains Adrian Guzy, BI Development Manager at CTDI.

Implementation in practice – rapid execution, measurable results

The project was completed in just six months – from February to August 2024 – and included:

  • Consolidation of data from various sources across CTDI’s global operations, eliminating data silos and improving cross-team collaboration.
  • Enhanced data security and simplified sharing processes with customers and partners.
  • Automation of price forecasting, replacing manual processes with weekly, fully automated reporting.
  • Deployment of advanced exploratory data analysis (EDA) directly in Microsoft Fabric to improve analytics workflows and predictive model accuracy.
  • Integration of statistical and ML-based forecasting methods to better align with diverse data series and increase forecast reliability.
  • Continuous evaluation of forecasting results to support ongoing algorithm refinement and better adaptation to market changes.
“Implementing Microsoft Fabric not only helped us consolidate our analytics tools but also fundamentally changed how we work with data. ANEGIS’ expertise was particularly valuable in areas of the platform that were new to us – such as leveraging advanced ML models,” adds Guzy.
“This is a perfect example of a deployment where technology isn’t just a tool but a true catalyst for transformation. CTDI placed its trust in Microsoft Fabric at a time when the platform was still new to the market – and proved that innovation combined with expert collaboration brings real value,” says Janusz Małgorzaciak, Head of CRM & Power Center Team at ANEGIS.

CTDI plans to further scale the platform and expand the use of predictive analytics in other areas of the business.
