Digital transformation

Digital transformation

Solution overview

Digital transformation, Industry 4.0, Smart Factory – these are all terms that are used to describe the innovations in digital technologies which are transforming the manufacturing landscape. Cloud computing, advanced analytics, machine learning, the Internet of Things, and human-machine interfaces such as Microsoft HoloLens – until now these technologies were accessible only to the largest enterprises.

To stay ahead of the game, businesses need to reinvent their capabilities continually, at faster rates than in the past. Organisations of all sizes can now take advantage of the latest digital innovations to enhance their bottom line. ANEGIS use their expertise in multiple technologies to guide your organisation through digital transformation. Narrow-scope pilot projects can establish proof of concept and demonstrate business value before committing to an investment.

ANEGIS digital transformation solutions include

Industry 4.0 case studies

Volvo Car Group

Volvo Car Group decided to partner with Microsoft to use its HoloLens technology to help its employees visualise and interact with its products in deeper ways than was ever possible and revolutionise their design process, as well as the way they market and sell their vehicles.

With HoloLens, Volvo sales associates can give customers a detailed, immersive view of the cars they’re interested in – from simply viewing and choosing features, colours, and options to stripping away the outer layers of the vehicle in order to learn more about the engine, transmission, or other technical details. They can also demonstrate the safety features of its cars in action, building trust in its systems.

Jabil

Jabil, one of the world’s leading design and manufacturing solution providers, wanted to minimise downtime by creating digital, intelligent and predictive factories. Working with Microsoft, the company created new digital plants in Mexico and Malaysia.

These factories are using machine learning, predictive analytics and the cloud to analyse millions of data points from machines to identify errors or failures early in the manufacturing process – before they even occur. The results have exceeded Jabil’s expectations, predicting machine processes that would slow down or fail with 80 percent accuracy.

Rolls-Royce

Rolls-Royce, a leading manufacturer for the airline and business aviation market, wanted to improve aircraft efficiency and reduce maintenance costs in their engines powering more than 50,000 flights around the world each month.

Rolls-Royce chose to build a powerful and scalable data analytics system based on the Microsoft Azure platform, transforming how it uses data to better serve its customers. By collecting and aggregating on-engine health data, air traffic control information, and fuel usage and processing information in real time, Rolls-Royce is able to help its aviation customers improve fuel usage and maintenance planning, and reduce flight disruptions with potential annual savings of millions of dollars.

Liebherr

Liebherr, a leading manufacturer of industrial and consumer equipment, partnered with Microsoft to create a new smart refrigerator. Liebherr’s customers such as pharmaceutical companies, medical labs and food retailers need reliable cooling technologies to ensure that their products stay at precise temperatures during storage.

A Liebherr prototype analyses complex data from many sources in a single dashboard and monitors key performance data remotely, including the accuracy and stability of the fridge’s temperature and the state of the compressor and door. Liebherr demonstrates how to offer the benefits of predictive analytics to its clients and open service tickets before critical damage can alter the valuable contents of the fridge.

Lowe’s

Lowe’s, operator of 1,840 home improvement retail stores, have redefined the process of home renovation. Lowe’s wanted to help customers imagine how kitchen projects would look in real life before embarking on a remodel.

Lowe’s partnered with Microsoft to create an augmented reality experience using HoloLens, enabling customers to experience a holographic representation of the kitchen, adjust options instantly, and share designs online. The solution brings customers a new way to experience full-scale design and appliance options while maximising store floor space.

Stream analytics

In IoT and IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) scenarios stream analytics can process millions of events per second. Multiple streams can be compared, in real time, to each other or with historical values and models. Alerts can be set up to trigger when specific anomalies, thresholds or other conditions appear in the stream.

Mixed Reality and IoT

The Microsoft HoloLens offers the unique ability to blend Mixed Reality with IoT. HoloLens Mixed Reality overlays the real world with digital content. The holographic overlays are seen directly within the user’s vision as they look around.

The ability to overlay holographic representations of IoT objects over those very devices as you look at them can be used to implement a much more intuitive user experience for IoT that’s superior to a screen-based dashboard control. The user can simply look at any visible IoT device and control it with holographic controls or even voice commands.
